This website is an editorial magazine. Registration is not required to visit it. When You visit, certain data is processed for technical reasons.

Processing of personal data

Personal data is any information relating to an identified or identifiable person. Processing includes any handling of personal data, such as collecting, storing, using, modifying, disclosing or destroying it. We process personal data in accordance with Swiss data protection law. Where the GDPR applies, We base processing in particular on Your consent, legal obligations and our legitimate interests in the secure and economical operation of this website.

Hosting

This website is delivered via Cloudflare Workers (Cloudflare, Inc., USA). For technical reasons, Cloudflare processes IP addresses to deliver the content and to protect against attacks. The servers are located primarily in the EU (Frankfurt). Cloudflare is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

Content is managed through a content management system (EmDash) running on Cloudflare Workers with a D1 database and R2 storage.

Legal basis: Legitimate interest in the secure and reliable operation of the website (Art. 31 para. 1 nDSG).

SSL/TLS encryption

For security reasons this website uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the «https://» prefix and the lock symbol in Your browser bar.

Server log files

When You access this website, information transmitted by Your browser is recorded automatically, such as browser type and version, operating system, referrer URL, the hostname of the accessing computer and the time of the request. This data cannot be attributed to specific persons and is not merged with other data sources.

Cookies

This website partly uses cookies, small text files that make it possible to store specific information on the user's device. You can deactivate or restrict the setting of cookies in Your browser settings at any time, and delete cookies that have already been stored.

Analytics and tracking · Alchemy Scribe

We use Alchemy Scribe, our own first-party analytics system (server: opus.alchemy.zuerich), operated by Alchemy Zürich as our processor, to evaluate website usage. No data is passed on to advertising networks or other third parties. In particular, the following is collected:

  • page views and time on page
  • an anonymous, session-based visitor ID
  • device information (browser, operating system, screen size)
  • referrer (where You came from)
  • scroll depth and click behaviour

Legal basis: Legitimate interest in a statistical evaluation of website usage (Art. 31 para. 1 nDSG). Statistics tracking is active by default.

Personalisation, such as linking to an email address or cross-session recognition, only takes place with Your explicit consent. You can withdraw Your consent at any time.

Reach measurement · Google Analytics

On a transitional basis We additionally use Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited) for reach measurement. Data may be transferred to Google in the USA. Google is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Processing is based on Your consent. You can withdraw Your consent at any time.

Note on data transfer to the USA

This website embeds tools from companies based in the USA (such as Cloudflare and Google). When these tools are active, Your personal data may be transferred to the US servers of the respective companies. The named providers are certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
